The Interchange Foundation founders, Rebecca and Brian Wood, owned and operated a construction firm in the road building industry for over twenty years.  As a former president of the Tennessee Road Builders Association, Rebecca heard the industry concerns regarding the need to identify and hire a skilled and diverse workforce as well as the desire of industry to contract with competent and proficient subcontractors and vendors.  As a woman in construction, she has seen a lack of interest and an inability of women and minorities to enter into the construction industry as a career choice.  And, as successful entrepreneurs, the Woods have seen first-hand the empowerment and financial stability that can be earned by embracing opportunities in non-traditional fields.

For those reasons, Rebecca, in partnership with Brian, who has a strong background in operations, and their daughter Roxanna, an emerging leader in the human resources field, created The Interchange Foundation with a vision to empower women and minorities who are interested in exploring careers in fields where women and minorities are traditionally underrepresented. The Interchange Foundation seeks to assist eligible individuals reach their goals related to STEM careers with a particular focus on assisting those seeking professions in the construction industry.
